When I decided to no longer update NeverMindTheBuzzkills, I could have just left the blog as it was and leave the existing posts for readers to explore. But that would have looked like yet another abandoned website. So I decided to change the format and present NMTB in a different form. A static form. A kind of best-of from the previous years. I selected some of the artists I had written about most frequently and some who had fascinated me more than others, and created one landing page per ‘featured artists’. It turned out to be a small, slightly quirky club of 20 artists/bands I thought you, the person who happened to stumble upon NMTB, should know about.
I never said that this would be the final form of NeverMindTheBuzzkills. Somehow I knew that I wouldn’t be able to stay away from it forever. Unfortunately I still don’t have the time to bring back the initial form with its multitude of time-consuming features. But there are simply too many amazing artists out there to just share their videos via email with a few selected friends or only give them a quick mention on Twitter. What can I say? I just can’t keep my mouth shut or my fingers still when it comes to music I love. Which is why, a year after NMTB became dormant I launched the new sub-blog. Daily videos, plus the essential artist links, rather than long posts and features. Easy enough to do for me. And for you? Once again plenty of great artists to explore and discover.
If you like what you find here, don’t forget to share these artists with others. Even if you don’t go off and buy every album and EP they have to offer, follow them on Twitter, subscribe to the YouTube channels, spread the word; whether you are a listener or an artist yourself. Exploring, discovering, sharing – that is the only way for music and musicians to survive and grow.
